James Simon
Assistant Head of School for Advancement & External Affairs
James E. Simon assumed his role at Indian Springs on July 1, 2019 and oversees the teams responsible for admissions, marketing and communications, fundraising, and alumni relations. He has held senior positions in independent schools and higher education for the last 21 years. Prior to arriving at Indian Springs, James served as Director of Institutional Advancement at The Browning School in New York where, in addition to his fundraising and management responsibilities, he served on the School’s accreditation steering committee and helped author their current strategic plan. Prior to arriving at Browning, James worked in higher education and was Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations at University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law where he launched the School’s $150 million capital campaign. He came to USC from the New York University Stern School of Business where he was Director of Development and built a team for outreach to undergraduate alumni.
Taylor Docking
Director of Advancement & Enrollment Management
Taylor Docking joined the staff at Indian Springs in 2021 in our admission office and currently serves as our Director of Advancement & Enrollment Management. Taylor previously worked at Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where he served as Associate Dean of Upper School Admissions/Director of International Enrollment, a psychology and public policy teacher, and a dorm parent. Prior to joining Cranbrook Schools, Taylor taught in the Teach For America program in Chicago, Illinois, and started a non-profit that helped create pathways for low-income high school students to attend small, private liberal arts colleges. Taylor received his bachelor’s degree in history and literature from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago. He and his wife Kim live on campus with their two daughters and love being part of the Indian Springs community.
